About Z / DrilX / Tristan ZandBoth Swiss and San Francisco Bay Area native, Tristan Zand is a conceptual artist / experimental photographer / videographer / musician / developer attempting to answer everyday-reality’s call to become Human stories. He gravitates between the Bay Area, Iceland, and Switzerland. His experimental work represents a seamless emulsion of analogue and digital substrates, implicit attempt at increasing narrative and poetic enthalpy towards deeper emotional adventures. Memories and their incomplete sustainability is a constant focus of his work, both through the conception of art and technology protocols and the seamless use of AI models to that goal. His works range from abstract to concrete, through performative or recorded music, mixed-medium and software / distributed network creations, portrait and documentary photography, and his research more particularly focuses on the exploring and development of innovative techniques, from bespoke photographic to internet-based collaborative music software and artificial intelligence. Hungry to understand sensory experiences and memories through sounds and still and moving images, he shares his views of shapes and colors by interacting with people, spaces, objects, sounds, using analog and digital receptacles as well as bespoke computer code to go beyond. You can also access the other stuff (e.g. scientific work) and get in touch on Linkedin, but I only respond to professional or network requests and related messages https://www.linkedin.com/in/zzzch/, you might reach me on Instagram @zdrilx otherwise. New refresh for the 30th years of existence of the website without loosing its original character (this URL didn't exist yet and was actually created for me at the time and never used before... woaa), day by day. Hopefully the gigabytes of material that were sedimented everywhere and that I am getting back in shape will soon come back to haunt you on these webpages. Some audio and video are in prehistoric online / streaming formats that definitely need reformatting. I'll hopefully celebrate with a document about these 30 years of online data creation / transformation / distribution from the early web to current generative AI. It hopefully will be in real-world matter by means of printed material as for the Bootymachine project. Previous works non exclusively includes Dr Badtaste's Office (at the junction between FirstClass client BBSs and the Web (an generative AI model just was trained on the art base if you want to have fun - ), the creation and development in 1995 of Wild.ch the first creator collective network online for Switzerland (and abroad..), the creation in 1999 of the collaborative streaming music and video platform Poinch.ch for independent Swiss musicians, or the PhotoCollective.net from 2005 for photographers to interact virtually or in real all over the world, that will appear asap somewhere around (they're still there, go check the Internet Archive Wayback Machine if you already want them on your screen in their original form). Yay! ;) two oldies press excerpts talking about the bass guitar part of the website from Future Music in 1997 and Bass Magazine in 1998 (more nostalgia to come ;) ) ![]() ![]() |
